Easter Flowers - Photo Courtesy Suzie Kostick, AIFD, CF, PFCIEach holiday has its own traditions, ones that bring happy memories, and warm feelings that connect one generation to the next. This is certainly true for Easter with its cute bunnies, decorated eggs, baskets of candy, sunrise services and spring flowers.

It seems like flowers are in abundance this time of year, and for good reason. After a long cold winter, the bold colors and fragrant blossoms associated with spring and Easter are a welcomed reprieve.

Flower shops and garden centers are busting at the seams with tulips, irises, daffodils, hyacinths, pansies, poppies and hydrangeas just to name a few. All waiting to be taken home and displayed in glass vases or planted in pots to be placed by the front door.

Be sure to ask your local floral professional about the new varieties they are carrying this season so you’re sure to get the most popular and spectacular blooms available on the market.

And let’s not forget about the regal Easter Lily – Lilium longiflorum. Its highly fragrant, pure white blossoms are symbolic of the Resurrection holiday and remain a popular gift given during this spring season. A helpful hint is to order your Easter Lily early as supplies are usually limited and tend to sell out fast. [Please keep Easter lilies out of reach from cats. They can cause renal failure in cats that have ingested any part of the lily. The lilies do not pose a problem for other pets or humans.]

Stop by your local flower shop this Easter season and see first-hand what awesome blossoms are waiting for you. Your neighborhood florist is ready to create a one of a kind, beautifully designed bouquet just for you. And while you’re there, why not pick up a bouquet for a friend.
